How Sayora works

Your own number and a receptionist trained on your business, answering in your name. Here’s how each part works, and the steps to going live.

Your number

Sayora answers on a dedicated UK number, and your calls reach Sayora the way they reach a voicemail today: you forward them.

  • Pick a local number for your area where one’s available, or a National 03 number that works right across the UK. One business, one number.
  • You keep the number your customers already ring and forward the calls you don’t answer, so you still pick up your own phone as normal.
  • Call forwarding asks up to four questions, then gives you each code with your Sayora number already in it.
  • Tap Start the test, don’t pick up, and when the call diverts you get a text: “Test passed.”

What your receptionist knows

Your receptionist only knows what you’ve told it. Anything it hasn’t been given becomes a message for you, never a guess.

  • Business details holds what you do, your services, and where you work or where you’re based.
  • Opening hours tell your receptionist when you’re open, and Call back within is the most it will promise a caller.
  • Sayora reads your website when you sign up, the pages behind your homepage too, and shows you which pages were read.
  • Common questions are answered word for word, from the moment you save one.

How your receptionist behaves

The name callers hear, the voice they hear it in, and the rules your receptionist follows on every call are yours to set.

  • Give your receptionist a name, and choose from 18 British and Irish voices, each with a sample to hear first.
  • Write up to ten rules in your own words. Sayora checks each one when you save it, and suggests other wording when a caller might hear a rule differently from how you meant it.
  • If your receptionist trips over a word, add it under Pronunciation with how it sounds.
  • Ask on the call adds up to three questions of your own to every call, such as a vehicle registration.

On the call

When someone rings, your receptionist takes a message, books them in, answers their questions or screens out the spam.

  • Your receptionist greets the caller in your business’s name, takes their name, confirms the best number to reach them on and writes a short summary.
  • With Google Calendar or cal.com connected, your receptionist offers your real availability and books the slot on the call.
  • Callers your receptionist recognises get a short welcome back instead of the full introduction.
  • A courier or supplier gets a message taken for you. Cold sales calls are ended politely and never land in your leads.

Where your leads land

The moment a call ends, Sayora lets you know, and the lead is waiting for you in your Inbox.

  • Text alerts and Email alerts are both on from the start, and an urgent lead’s text starts with the word URGENT.
  • Each lead has the caller’s name and number, a Summary, the Details you asked for, the booking if one was made, and the recording and transcript.
  • Private details Sayora finds in the recording, such as phone numbers and email addresses, are bleeped out.
  • Tap Mark done once you’ve followed up. Every call stays in Calls.

What Sayora won’t do

Sayora is built to be straight with your callers, and some of that no setting can change.

  • Your receptionist won’t invent a price or a fact you haven’t given it. Anything you haven’t covered is taken down as a message for you.
  • Every caller hears the call is recorded before they’re asked for any details, and your receptionist never claims to be a person.
  • Sayora is built so no rule can stop your receptionist telling anyone hurt or in danger to contact the emergency services first, or make it ask for card details or passwords.
  • Sayora only answers calls that come in to you, and never rings your customers. Recordings are deleted 90 days after the call.
